- You can use the 32-month limit if you are enrolled in a joint graduate research program (MD/PhD, MA/PhD, DVM/PhD), regardless of whether you have completed a Master’s program before.
- If you did not spend any time in a Master’s program before going straight from a Bachelor’s to a PhD program.
- During the last two years of full-time study or its equivalent, you must have maintained a first-class average as specified by your institution. It’s best to find out from your institution exactly what constitutes a first-class average.
- A doctorate-level scholarship or fellowship from CIHR, NSERC, or SSHRC should not be anything you presently hold or have held in the past in order to pursue or finish a doctorate.
